Don't Let Your Mind Get In The Way
I saw some cheesy self-help clip on Instagram.
The gist was this:
If you want to do something positive, don't think about it. Just do it. The moment you let your mind get in the way, you've lost. It will start weighing options, and it's likely you will think yourself out of whatever it is that you wanted to do.
It sounds pretty simple. And for some reason, it stuck with me.
Yesterday morning I woke up earlier than I usually do, around 8 AM.
I thought I should just start my morning routine, but I ended up scrolling until around 8:30 AM.
Today I woke up earlier than I usually do, around 7:50 AM.
I got up. I flossed. I brushed my teeth. I scraped my tongue and got dressed.
It was around 8 AM when I started making my coffee.
At first nothing really materially changed beyond gaining ~half an hour.
But I feel better. My self-talk is less negative. The suns a bit brighter, the cold air a bit crisper.
Excising negative habits from your day probably pays higher dividends than trying to squeeze in positive ones.
Don't let your mind get in the way.
